Albany – The Most Beautiful Place in the World

Albany – The Most Beautiful Place in the World

I have just gone into the Lonely Planet webpage to look for ‘things to do’ and ‘sights’ in Albany. The content is embarrassing and so far flung from the truth I am doing something about it.

Facts about Albany few people know:

  • Albany is the most beautiful area in Australia. Not just according to me, but the thousands of visitors who have toured around Australia make their way to Albany, then take the time to explore. They are without exception stunned at what they see and experience.
  • One of THE top whale watching spots in the world. You can see whales from the coast, from the beach or get up close and personal on board one of two exception boat tours. Yesterday, 20 different whales were sighted, including many calves. Orcas, humpbacks, Southern Right and even two majestic Blue Whales, the biggest mammals in the world.
  • One of Albany’s town beaches has just wont the ‘Best Beach in Australia’ award. In truth, any one of a dozen local beaches could have won this.
  • There are seven diverse, beautiful National Parks around Albany. One of these, Two People’s Bay, is actually a National Reserve. The furthest away is the Stirling Ranges, judged to be the oldest mountain range in the world, 80 km’s away. The closest is across the harbour and down the road. The rest are easily within 40 km’s. In a country the size of Australia, having such diversity so close at hand is a joy.
  • Diversity. Two natural harbours, islands, rivers, squeaky white beaches with bush backdrops, waterfalls, temperate rain forest, mountains, massive granite outcrops, wild spectacular coastline with King Waves, whales, dolphins, seals, ship wrecks and some of the most spectacular diving you’ll find anywhere.
